My favorite experiences in photography come while I am traveling. I like to photograph a culture and its people, especially those people who continue their life styles, some making modifications for the twentieth and twenty first centuries and some who retain the older aspects of their cultures.
I love the wonderful differences and the connections between Morocco, Guatemala, and East Africa, Australia and our way of life. Especially appealing to me are the vibrant colors one encounters, both in what the people wear, in their activities, and in their ceremonies. Finding color is not difficult, taking control of the color in the image is the challenge.
My preference originally was to take slides because slides concentrate and saturate the color. I then chose which images I liked the best and make archival digital prints of them. Since 2004, I have switched to all digital.
Upon retirement from ATT Bell Laboratories, I began taking photography courses at the College of DuPage. Finding photography to be an exciting and fascinating field, I continued my studies and received a certificate in photo technology.
I live in Illinois. Some of my achievements in photography include
